Phi Live

In the middle of all the festivities surrounding the UPMAS alumni homecoming parade, the Phi Kappa Mu Fraternity again took the spotlight by donating LCD monitors to the UP College of Medicine. ‘Phi Live’, a project with the Phi Lambda Delta Sorority, is another step towards improving the facilities of the college and enhancing the learning avenues of medical students.

A total of 42 LCD monitors were installed in the multi-disciplinary laboratories at Paz Mendoza Hall. The addition of 3 monitors per room makes for a total of 4 LCD screens per classroom. This would make the environment more conducive to learning during small group discussions and histology sessions. As with the Katigbak Classroom and the Mariano dela Cruz lounge, Phi Live is another testament to the Fraternity’s continued commitment towards academic excellence and in being a good medical student above all.

The parade route on the day of the homecoming did not include passing by the Paz Mendoza building, so sample monitors were set up in front of the BSLR classrooms instead. This also served as the venue for opening the event. Dean Roxas opened the launching activity proper, where he stressed the importance of improving facilities in the college for the attainment of every student’s full potential. Brod Peter Bautista Bernardo ?80 and Sis Julia Warren Valdez also gave short speeches on behalf of the Phi Kappa Mu Fraternity and Phi Lambda Delta Sorority, respectively.

These donations would not have been possible if not for the support of the alumni brods of the Phi Kappa Mu. Brods based both locally and in the country continue to be committed to giving back to the institutions that made them doctors, the institutions that made them Phi. The steadfast dedication in the hearts of the brods assures the continuation of more projects like Phi Live for the benefit of the UP College of Medicine, the Philippine General Hospital, and most importantly the future doctors being trained in these institutions.
